Like most of you, we were surprised and disappointed to learn of the apparent deception employed by Volkswagen® of Germany. In an effort to pass US emissions tests, the automaker allegedly rigged the testing software to ensure that their automobiles registered lower pollution levels than what was actually the case. We wonder, if a major European manufacturer is willing to intentionally deceive the public, can consumers have confidence in anything?

We know that, from time to time, customers are skeptical about flooring products that are manufactured in China, particularly when it comes to formaldehyde emissions. As the Volkswagen example clearly demonstrates, a business is only as trustworthy as the characters of the individuals standing behind the product and the brand. The Country-of-Origin Effect is not a good indication of either the quality of a product or the trustworthiness of a brand.

All of Twelve Oaks products meet the industry product quality and health and safety standards. We voluntarily comply with several of the most stringent emission standards to ensure that all of our products are safe to use. Every shipment passed the inspection of our own quality control personnel, working in all of the manufacturing facilities overseas. Every day, we work hard to make your savings more exceptional. Consumers are right to be skeptical about quality claims made by any manufacturer anywhere in the world. They should ask questions. FloorScore
FloorScore is a voluntary certification program applicable to hard surface floorings and flooring adhesives products. Twelve Oaks products with the FloorScore label have all passed the indoor air quality emission criteria. Also, products bearing the FloorScore label also qualify for the LEED, CHPS, and Green Guide certificates for green building projects.

CARB
The California Air Resources Board, abbreviated to CARB, is the pioneer of “clean air agency” in North America. CARB phase 1 and 2 outlined the ratings of formaldehyde emissions pertaining to composite wood and manufactured wood products. Though the standards originated in the state of California, the CARB certificate is being recognized and used as a benchmark across North America. All of Twelve Oaks products bearing the CARB label are deemed to have safe emission levels below 0.18 ppm.

E1 and E0
E1 and E0 are European formaldehyde emission standards, one of the most well-known industry emission benchmarks. All of Twelve Oaks hardwood products have the E1 emission rating. Several of our engineered hardwood collections and all of our luxury vinyl collections passed E0 testing, measuring at less than 0.07 ppm.
